About Us

Dawn Wilson, M.S., CCC-SLP is the founder of Speech Specialists, LLC and a nationally certified speech-language pathologist. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association and is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Dawn is a member of the American Speech and Hearing Association and the Corporate Speech Pathology Network.
She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Iowa and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Dawn has also worked as a clinical instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Dawn has extensive experience working in early-childhood and school settings, where she provided service to children with a wide range of speech, language, and communication difficulties. She has also worked with individuals with communication disorders such as autism, Asperger’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, and Down’s syndrome. Some of Dawn’s trainings include PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), PROMPT, and TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped CHildren).
Dawn is also experienced in working with adults with a variety of communication needs. She specializes in fluency and regional and foreign accent modification. She is certified by the Institute of Language and Phonology to provide foreign accent reduction training utilizing the Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language (P-ESL) program.
Dawn and her husband live in Whitefish Bay and have two young children. Dawn enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, and traveling.
