How it Works

1. Consultation

We offer free consultations to determine whether or not speech therapy is right for you.

Consultations are available over the phone or in person. We will discuss your communication goals and determine whether a formal assessment is necessary to begin therapy.

2. Assessment

If a formal assessment is necessary it will be conducted in person at our clinic. The assessment usually takes about an hour.

3. Therapy

Therapy sessions are designed to meet your specific needs and communication goals.

Therapy is usually focused on improving or rebuilding particular skill sets. Depending on what skill you’re working on, therapy may include:

  • Tongue and mouth exercises to help build your oral coordination, and retrain your tongue movements.

  • Refining or controlling your facial movements to help improve your oral motor skills.

  • Reading aloud to strengthen the connection between your brain and your mouth.

The frequency and duration of each session will vary depending on your needs and your schedule.

Patients are expected to work on their new skills outside of therapy sessions and will be given homework to encourage progress. Just like learning any new skill, the best results are achieved with time, effort, and practice.
